The Haven Staterooms on The Epic
If you are new to solo traveling and don’t know where to start, I recommend picking a cruise itinerary that interests you and trying out a Studio Stateroom onboard an NCL ship. During my 12-night Transatlantic sailing, I spent quite a bit of time in the Studio Lounge in the early mornings and late evenings working or chatting with fellow passengers. It was also a great space to read while enjoying a cup of coffee. If you are someone who is booked in a Studio Stateroom, I highly recommend checking out the Studio Lounge several times. Each Studio Stateroom also features a television for guests to peruse the offerings and amenities onboard, as well as purchase movies to watch in their cabin should they so choose.

Norwegian Epic Overview
(Available on Norwegian Escape, Breakaway Class ships, Norwegian Bliss, and Norwegian Epic) You can see more about the Spa Staterooms on NCLs website. The cabins on the Norwegian Epic are where most passengers have a strong opinion. The layout is unusual by cruise ship standards with a split bathroom (the toilet is separate from the shower) and where the sink is in the room. With only a curtain divider, people often feel that privacy is lacking.

Club Balcony Mini-Suite

The list of new (redesigned) facilities includes a photo gallery (deck 5), library (deck 7), card room (deck 7) and the new SplashGolf (kids mini-golf course). The SplashGolf is a retrofit to the ship's existing splash pad (part of the Aqua Park area). It is located under the waterslides on pool deck 15 and combines 2 water fun attractions (splash pad and miniature golf) into one interactive water play facility for toddlers and small kids. Epic's SplashGolf was designed by Adventure Golf Services (a company specializing in the design and construction of mini-golf courses). Instead of traditional solid mini golf balls, SplalshGolf's balls are larger and floating.
Each bed also features four comfortable pillows (in addition to two decorative pillows), comfortable sheets, and a light comforter. I thought the bed was very comfortable and made for the perfect place for a night’s sleep or a cozy nap during the day. Above the bed, there are two small reading lights for those who would like to enjoy a book before they fall asleep. Bathrooms feature fixed dispensers filled with liquid soap and combined shampoo/conditioner. A nifty design touch in the bathroom is a concealed basket for used towels beneath the sink (so well hidden that it took us a couple of days to discover it).

Interior Cabin
Solo passengers/cruisers have never been a priority on most cruise ships. Expensive solo and single supplements are often normal on cruises, however, Norweigian changed that with their solo insider cabins of which more than 100 were introduced on the Epic. The choice to cater to passengers who traveled alone or with friends not wanting to share a cabin was a huge hit for NCL. They’ve become so popular that all future ships built for Norwegian Cruise Line have included solo cabins.
The Norwegian Epic cruise ship cabins page is conveniently interlinked with its deck plans showing deck layouts combined with a legend and review of all onboard venues. All cabins on deck 14 are under the main sun deck of the ship. It isn’t abnormal to hear noises of sunloungers being moved or music from the pool deck. This noise usually doesn’t go on late, but the cabins on lower decks will be quieter. During my cruise on the Norwegian Epic, I had family members staying in a standard balcony cabin and I spent a lot of my time here. If you are considering a cruise on the Norwegian Epic it’s important that you are happy with the bathroom situation.
I can’t say that I’ve stopped even once for a drink there since this change happened. The main dining restaurants on the Epic with a menu that changes regularly as well as a daily / nightly fixed menu for those who don’t appreciate change. Enjoy Norwegian Cruise Line's onboard entertainment, including Broadway productions, comedy clubs, dueling pianos and much more. Looking for a getaway without the need to fly far, then Norwegian has options for you. The cruise line has ships leaving from New York, Boston, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle. If you do want to travel abroad they have ships in Europe leaving from ports like Venice, Barcelona and Copenhagen.
The ship's Aqua Park has 2 swimming pools, 5 whirlpools/hot tubs, a kids' pool, 3 waterslides (including the Epic Plunge bowl slide). In a bold move, Norwegian Cruise Line built the Epic with 128 solo-occupancy staterooms (Studios), a first in the cruise industry. Aside from a total of 688 inside staterooms including the Studios, all of the remaining 1,426 staterooms have balconies. That amounts to quite a few options when it comes time to reserve a balcony stateroom. Since May 2015, the Norwegian Cruise Line charges US$7,95 for room service dining.
The Bliss Lounge on the Epic is quite impressive given it’s essentially a well-done night club at sea. When you’re there, you wouldn’t know that you’re on a cruise ship. The lounge is what you’d expect in the evenings and is adult-only starting around 9 pm.
In a usual cruise ship cabin, you’ll find the bathroom in the corner of the room. In the bathroom, you’ll usually find the toilet, sink, and shower. On the Norwegian Epic, you’ll find the shower in one room in the corner of the cabin and a toilet in a little room on the other. The sink is within the main cabin and there is a privacy curtain. I probably should not give away my secret, but based on my research the best standard balcony cabins are forward on Deck 9. A great spot on the Epic is the adults-only Spice H2O at the rear of the ship.
